TARANAKI MEMBERS' QUES- • TIONS. Mr Okey (Taranaki) has given notice to ask the Minister of Lauds, whether his attention has been drawn to the ■number of farms that have been left by young men on leaving for the front, and the way many of these farm arc going back into their original state for want of proper stocking; and, whether, so as to help to keep tho farms in order for these men, he will consider the advisability of the different Commissioners of Crown Lands obtaining the services of several persons connected with the farming of this class of laud, with a view of the Government stocking these farms and farming them under experienced managers? Mr Jenuiugs (Tattmarumii) has given notice to ask the Minister of Lands, whether the timber royalties, part ot which some years ago was by legislation given to local bodies in timber districts for metalling and formation of roadij and which have now been diverted for afforestation purposes, can be again reallptted for their original purpose? (Note.—Money for afforestation purposes is not spent in timber districts, but is spent in districts which are barren of timber.) Mr Pcaree kfPatca) ia to ask the Government, whether money lent on mortgage by the Government Insurance Department and the Public will pay war income-tax on the income from mortgages as is paid by other companies? ' ;
