STRIKES INTERFERE WITH SHIPPING. Valparaiso, Aug. 23. The strikes, due to agitators, which have been raging for a fortnight at the nitrate ports of Autofagasta 3 Mejillones, and lquiqui have spread to the nitrate fields and nitrate shipments have seriirusly declined despite the Govtrnment'seiforts to counteract the strikes by means of soldiers, sailors, and unskilled iabor. AN UWIMATUM TO GERMASY. Received Aug. 24, 12.5 jun. London, Aug. 23. The Vossielie Zeitung states that Peru has sent an ultimatum to Germany in connection with the sinking of the 6teamer Lorton, cabled on February 10.
