Mr. H. T. H. Grave has received a cable to the effect that his son, Sergt. B. Grave, who .waa awarded the Military Medal in connection with the battle of Messines, has gained a commission and is now in England.

Mr. and Mrs. T. Barr, of New Plymouth, have received word that their son, Private. W. 0. Barr, who left with the 22nd Reinforcements, has been admitted to hospital in France, suffering from a wounded right Amur (compound fracture), received on August 2. /

The latest hospital progress report includes the names of the following Tatwiaki men: Reported as severe cases: Private L. Ward. Not reported as severe cases: Privates J, Davis, E. C. Johnson, L. C. Marcfc*nt, C. G. Silb.v, W. H. lorry, T. Tokotan;i (New Plymouth), 0. Vaughan and L. H. Willy. On the motion of Mr. Quilliain (Govett and Quilliam) probata of the will of the. late Mrs. Mary Brophy has been granted ojr the Supreme Court to Messrs .Daniel and James Brophy, the executors | therein named; and probate of the will of/the late Mr. Samuel Pearn to Mr. Ernest Arthur Burkitt, the executor therein named.

In a list of New Zealand soldiers recently submitted by Sir Douglas H&ig as deserving of special mention appears the name of Sefgt.-Major Roy Copeland, of the Medical Corps, soil of'Mr Charles A. Copeland, /storekeeper, of Douglas, formerly on the staff of Messrs John Duthie and Co., in Wellington. News has been received that LaijceCorporal D. V. S. MacLaren has been wounded in France and admitted to hospital. He is a New Plymouth boy, having teen born in the town, a son of the Rev. A. MacLaren, formerly of Te Kuiti, and a grandson of the late Mr B. Wells, who was editor of this paper in the early days. Lance-Corporal McLaren left New Zealand with Lord Liverpool's Own, so that he has seen a great deal of the fighting during the war.
