INGLEWOOD.
(From our own Correspondent.) On Monday evening a smoke concert was held in the Tarata Hall, the occasion being a farewell to Mr. Ible, who has bought a farm in tho Inglcwood district.' Mr. Standish occupied the chair, and the following toast list was duly honored: "The King," "Our Boys at the front," proposed by Mr. R. Stewart, and rc-spouded to by Lieut. D. Paterson; ''Our Guest." proposed by the (hairman, who regretted tho loss o! Mr. Ible, as he had been one of Tarata's keenest public men, and a man who. did not know what failure meant. He asked Mr. Ible to accept on behalf of the residents a handsome spirit kettle for Mrs. Ible and the guest, as a slight token of the esteem in which they are held by the Tarata residents. Mr. Ible suitably replied. Other toasts were "Farming and Dairying Industries," proposed by Mr. J. Sutherland, and responded to by Messrs Morey and Guildford; "Local Ijodies," proposed by Mr. T. E. Hamerton and responded to by Messrs A. Corkill and H. Lander. "The Visitors," ""The Press," and "The Ladies" were also honored. During the evening songs were contributed by Messrs E. Stewart, R. Geddes, H, Lambert, and J. Sutherland, and a recitation was given by Mr. Lynch. On Friday last Mr. Crooks, who was retained to report on the improvements to the electric light system, paid a visit to the suggested new site and inspected the old plant. He will submit his report at an early date. The newly-appointed electrical engineer has arrived and is making himself conversant with matters pertaining lo his duties.
