THE CUMBERLAND SINKS. Australian-N.Z. Cable Association. Sydney, August 13. The steamer Cumberland, after temporary patching, was floated and towed to Twofold Bay, but encountered a heavy sea and sank oIF fireen Cape in 35 fathoms of water. The crew were rescued by the accompanying vessels. HEAVY CASUALTIES. Received Aug. 13, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Aug. 13. The Australian casualties at the front for the current year exceeded number of those who enlisted.
