THE EMPIRE.
LAST NIGHT OF "THE CRAB." Nothing stronger in tho way o! contrast can bt imagined than the two leading characters of the clever Triangle drama "The Ornb," screened at the Empire for the first time last night. Thelma Salter is a dimpled smiling delicious little girl actress and she is the heroine. Frank Keenan is naturally well suited in the grim role of "Borrum,," the village "Old Ugly," who has oppressed and terrorised the whole neighborhood for years. Another splendid child actor is the little boy whose exaggerated yarn as to the happenings in florrum's houso rouse the village to take action against the alleged ehild-beater. The court scene is most touching and Thelma Salter will charm all hearts. After giving the barrister many daintily impudent answers, she finishes up with t'he most flagrant falsehood, "He's the kindest, goodpst man in the whole world." It iB an untruth but it proceeds from a loyal little heart and it works a strange miracle in the dried-up soul of the grim ltoro. The photography is particularly beautiful. Billie Burke also appears in ' The Tell Tale Envelope," and ihcre is a screamingly funny comedy, "The Last Scent," also a Pathe Gazette on the bill ivhich will be shown for Oie last time to-night. TO-MORBOW. HENRY AINLEY IN THE LONDON FILM, "JELFiS."
To-morrow the popular five-reel Eondon feature "Jelfs," will commence a, two-night season at the popular "Empire." A glance at the advertising columns will show that there is a supporting programme of exceptional interest.
