THE MART.
The ladies of the Red Cross Society liad charge of the Mart on Saturday, anil did capital business, their takings amounting to £43 ss, which may be deemed highly satisfactory, considering the many heavy demands recently made on the\generosity of the public. The competitions resulted as follows: —Two canaries presented by Mrs. Rollo, and won by Mr. 0. Julian; a Persian kitten, presented by Mrs. Jack Smith and won by Miss Mary Thompson.
Next Saturday the Mart will bo run by the Mayoress and her patriotic committee, .when one of the features will be a fresh egg stall. The Mayoress a_sks every school boy and girl in New Plymouth to bring one egg each to the depot by Friday next. Arrangements will be made to have the eggs b -ought in from country schools. , All friends who have a few eggs to spare call help to stock this stall.
