N.Z. L. AMD M.A. COMPANY'S REPORT. Tho N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Stratford, report as follows: On Friday, July 27, wo held our usual monthly sale in our Tarata yards. Dcwpite the rough weather we had a good yarding. 'Bidding was hrisk and most of the lines were cleared at the hammer or immediately afterwards. Prices as follows:—Store cows £7 10s, dairy cows £9 10»:to £lO 15s, i.e. heifers, 2 year.?, £6 10s to £7 10s, 3-year heifers £10; m.t. heifers £<t la {id to £6 10s., weaner heifers £4 4s, mixed weaners £3 13s, steers £8 to £8 l-ss, old ewes 22a <kl. At this sale a lamb was donated by Mr W. Ludeman, of Tarata, for the Tarata Patriotic Society, the lamb realising 265. Our next sale in these yards will :be held on Friday, August 24, 1917. On Tuesday, Auugst 7, we held our usual fortnightly sale in, our Stratford yards, when we had a fair yarding. Soane lines failed to bring owner's reserves, but on the wholq ruling prices were realised. Store cowS, light £5 7s to £0 ss, medium £6 <Ss to £7 12a <sd, £8 16s for good, 2-year steers £9 13s 6d, weaner steers, small 36s to '94 a for medium, weaner heifers 67s to 92s 6d. Dairy yards—Good dairy cows £ll 5s to £l2 ss, cows in milk £lO los, springing heifers £l2 2s -tfd to £ M ss, bush -ewes, backward in lamb 245, cull ewes 12s. Our next sale in these yards will be held on Tuesday, August 21, at 11.30 a.m.
On Monday, August 6, we held a clearing sale in conjunction with the Farmers' Co-op, Organisation Society, on account of :Mr. A. D. Johnson, Lowgarth. This well-known herd yarded in the best of condition, and after keen competition averaged £lB 10s, 19 heifers averaging £l4 19s. This we think is a record for cows of which none wera eligible to the herd book. Cows, old and 3-teaters £8 to £l2 10s, small and late culvers £l3 to £lB 10s, good early sorts £l9 to £2B 10s to £3l; average Springing heifers £l3 to £l7 6s, fat cow £l3 10s, empty cow £9 ss, pedigree Hoist,ein bull 40gns, weaner bull £lO calves, week old 10s to 60s, gelding £36 10s, unbroken colt £l6, mare £3B, woolly lambs 33s Id, mangolds £ll 10s per acre. Pigs: Sows £2 17s 6d to £3 3s, to £4 10s, store pigs ISs to 365, goats '2s Orl and ss, Sundries: Plough £5 ss, water heater £3 12s Od, c-ow covers 13s to 15s, milk cans 24s to 275, 465, gig £ I ss, waggon £ls Ids. Since our last reiport we have sold a Irrex' amount of stock privately, at tho following prices: Four and 6-tooth ewes Sis' fid, woolly hoggets, superior 335, woolly hoggets 255, 25s Gd, 27s to 27s Shi, bullocks, .Vycar-old £l4, yearling steers '£s 1(3 Gd, weaner heifers £3 5s to £5, store cows £B, £3 as, £9 to £9 19s, i.e. heifers £l2 10s.
