PRODUCE SALE AND FAIR.

The lliird ammal produce sale and fair in aid of Afesdames Hugh Baily and D. K. Jlorrisoii's. fund for Christmas parcels for Tarauaki men at tin; front was held

yesterday afternoon and evening in 'cite lioll.iml Hall, and as on the two previous occasions, proved a great success. Owing to aljle organisation on the part of (he laxly promoters, and Or, l co-opera-tion of many donors, a splendid collection of all sorts of goods was on exhibition and for sale, the result being lively business throughout the day, eager buyer:; for all the wares oli'ered, and a practically complete disposal of the entire t'.tock. The principal feature was a particularly fine display of produce, including all hinds of seasonable goods, from pumpkins and marrows to sucking pigs, hams, o>: tails, chickens, turkeys, pies, oyster patties, jams, jellies, pickles, etc. During the morning Messrs Baily and L'cpperill were actively engaged cutting up the sucking pigs and the hams, cooked by Mrs. Baily. and artistically arranging the many other dainty comestibles specially prepared for the occasion oy that lady. There were also at the disposal of patrons a number of large cheeses from the Bell Block and Waitoitoi factories, and in the selling of this commodity Mr. A. Veale's cheese cutter rendered valuable and expeditious assistance. .The flower stall presented a very attractive appearance, many beautiful and variegated blooms being effectually arranged, while the pretty little flower baskets made by Mrs. Duff attracted much attention. A Christmas tree delighted the children, who also paid marked attention to the cake and sweets stall. During the afternoon the proceedings were enlivened by some capital music by Mrs. Wood's orchestra. The stalls and stall holders were as follows: — Produce.—Mesdnmes E. Dockrill, R. J. Matthews, E. V. Webster, E. iPepperill.

Christmas tree and fancy goods.— Misses W. Webster, K. Leatham and D. Bradbury. Flower stall.—Mrs. Mortimer Jones, Misses Wade, C. Leatham and Simpson.

Cakes, etc,—Mesdames A. K. Lennon and It. 11. George, Miss Pepperill. Afternoon tea. —Mrs. F. Orbell, Misses n. Mackay, E. Bnilv, Goldwater, R. Whiltcn, D. Saxton.
