SUICIDE OF A FARMER.

Napier, Aug. fi. liobcrt John Couper, a fanner of 50. a resident of Wairoa, jumped from the second lloor of the Masonic Hotel yesterday, and died on his way to the hospital. Deceased had suffered considerably from ill-health. His wife witnessed the fatal leap, but her hold on her husband's night clothing only succeeded in tearing out a portion. SUDDEN DEATH 'OF A BOY. Palmerston X., Aug. C. The twelve-year-old son of Mrs. E. Rowlands, while watching a football match on Saturday, threw up his hands to catch a ball, fell over and expired almost immediately.
