A TECHNICAL EXCUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. At the sitting of the Neeonrt Military Service Hoard, the appeal of I'. \Y. Stanley, fanner, Roto-orangi, Cambridge, proved to be a most'unusual one. The appellant claimed he was not a re-.crvi-t. in that he had served beyond territorial waters. It seemed that appellant liad enlisted and left with the transport \Yaimana, which returned the next day. lie subsequently volunteered, but was not, accepted. Appellant put in his papers showing that lie had been discharged on account of illness. The ehairni.in -aid it was not to nppellar.i' s credit t»> ivsv upon the £onmd tliat lie had already .-irwil. The appellant's emlit to rely upon the ground that appellant was not a reservist. and the chairman added: "1 can't compliment you on your action/'
