The fighting instinct still runs strong in the blood of Mr. James Crone, despite his seventy years. His medals show how honorably he has served, his country in former wars, and now, after losing a son in thfe present war, he has volunteered for whatever service lie is able to discharge, and lias been accepted for home service at Trentham, whithsr lie proceeds this morning. Very wide and general regret will ha felt at the news of the death of Mrs. Geddes, wife of the Rev. R. Findlay Geddes, Anglican Homo Missioner, resident at Strathmorc. The late Mra. Geddes had been in indifferent health for some time (says the Post), and wan brought into Stratford for special medical attention a week ago. Her condition, however, grew worse, ahd she expired on Monday afternoon. The body wax taken by rail to Auddand on Monday, for interment in the Bay of Islands, th« deceased lady being a daughter of th» Mr. J. A. L. Hall, of Jijgahere. It w hardly two years since her marriage to the Rev. Mr. Geddes took place. Tlin Rev. C. W. Howard, Vicar of Stratfsrii, accompanied the Rev. Mr. Geddes oaj sti« sad journey north. Second Lieutenant G. A. Robbie, la to headmaster of the Patea District High School, is reported.. killed in action in France. Mr. Robbie',,, before acceptaneo of the head mastership >jof the Patsa School (says tlißrStar)i-.was headmaster jat Auroa school. He was a nun who ranked high in educational circles, and being still in the prime of life, could reasonably have expected to havt reached a still higher position than he occupied. He was always interested in military matters, and at 'Fatcn had a strong Cadet corps organised. Itis loss will be felt by all who knew him, and particularly by the children among whom ha labored, and by whom lie was liked and respected. He ia survived by hid wife, who is now resident at Nelson, and to whom the sympathy of many will; in this hour, be accorded. •
