A COMMITS SUICIDP

Auckland, Yesterday. Arthur Ernest Clarke, aged 47, muF ried, who was awaiting trial on a charge of incest, hanged himself in Mount Eden gaol this morning.
A YOUTH DEOWNED. Wanganui, Last Night. Frank Coles, 18 years of age, son of Mr. Coles, senior clerk of chief post office, was drowned while crossing a swollen stream on William Connor's prop* erty on the Wanganui river to-day. Tha body had not yet been recovered at a late hour to-night. CHILD KILLED BY A RIFLE. Masterton, Last Night. A little boy, named Spaekman, wa» handling a Winchester rifle this afternoon when it discharged. The bullet passed through the body of a little girl, aged four, named Annie Davy, kUling her almost instantanously, and entered the leg of a boy named Fred Davy, causing a flesh wound. The father of both victims is on active service and wound* ed.
