COST OF LIVING.
TO PREVENT EXPLOITATION. | A pointed question was put to the j Prime Minister in the House a few days ago by Mr. J. Vigor Brown, member for Napier, regarding the abnormally high cost of living. Mr. Massev replied as follows: —"In New Zealand, as in ' every other country of tho Empire, the cost of living has increased considerably since the war broke out. This, unfortunately, is unavoidable, as the cost of : production has gone up enormously all over the world, Tho Board of Trade has instructions to do everything pos- • sible to prevent exploitation, and I shall be glad to receive feasible suggestions on the subject from any member of the House." • '•
