A -wireless German official report state*: The artillery battle continues with undiminished intensity between the coast and Lys. English reconnoitring thrusts were continued, but proved unsuccessful. Our flame throwers captured an important trench sector near Monchy. Three enemy attempts to recapture it failed. We stormed ft Ireinjh position on a front of eighteen hundred metres and a depth of four hundred metres 'south of Allier captured a dominating ridge north-west of Hurtebise, and raided, and captured ground at Souchberg. The French suffered sanguinary losses in counter-attacking these places, where we took prisoner 1050. Our artillery has partly closed the breatib that the Russians caused, in our line southward of Smorgon, and compelled the Russians to retreat, regaining almost the whole of our former p&iitioos. We gained, during stubborn ensagemants, heights eastward of Tanuv f<At a °4 captured £uczacz, ThumacZ, Ottynlaj and Delatyn. Owiug to our pressure northward of the Dffelsiar, the Bussian Carpathian front ha* tornmeneed to weaken. Southward of the Tftrna Pass toe Russians are retreating in tie direction of Caxvowitt. Our attack drove off th» RusaiUQS from the Dabaludowa height*.
IMPROVING EXCHANGE WITH DENMARK. i Copenhagen, July 26. ■ Newspapers state that 20 million marks in gold has arrived from Germany iwith the -view of improving the exchange. The shipment included a largo quantity of securities, principally for Sweden.
