News was received in New Plymouth yesterday that Private Wharton L. Humphries has been reported by the military authorities as missing, it is understood from June.
Mr. Newton King was yesterday presented by the suppliers of the Okato Dairy Co'., Ltd., with an illuminated address, on the occasion of his resignation from the directorate, of whicluhe has been chairman since the inception of the company, twelve years ago.
On Saturday afternoon Mr. Fr«o Watson, an old and popular member of Mr. Newton King's jstaff, was the reoipient of a presentation from Mr. King and the senior members of the staff to mark the occasion of hia silver wedding. The presentation, which took the forin of a solid silver tea service, was made by Mr. King, who, in a liappy little speech, referred to Mr. Watson's long connection with his office, and congratfc. lated him upon the occasion which liftd brought about the gathering. Mr. ShaW followed, and Mr. Watson replied in characteristic terms.
