SECOND DIVISION LEAGUE.
| ADDRESS B'/ SIR JAMES 'ALLEN. By Telegraph—Press Association' Wellington, July 16. Addressing the Second Diviiios League'* Conference, Sir James Allen said lie felt fairly safe in predicting that the combing out and ni-examiiiA-tion of the remaining First Division reservists would produce at least one reinforcement, possibly 'two, ■ The classification of the Second Division would not be completed until August. He was confident of the loyal support of the Second Division and tho Government would do its best in respect to wives and dependents. He could not give definite information, .but intended to submit a schema to Parliament as early as possible. THE RESOLUTIONS. Wellington, Last Night. The conference resolved that the Government be (requested to provide tie necessary machinery for completing , the medical examination of each class of tho Second Division at least one month.before the ballot of such class; also that all C2 men if, after being passed as. fit' on re-examination, shall not be required to go into camp before the exptfjr of three months from such re-examinatipn. Other resolutions were: That the medical examination be made a deciding factor as to the liability of the State,' so that if a man is passed as physically fit by the examining medical board, the State shall take full responsibility from the moment of his parading for entry into camp, and that in the event of tiis deatli or disablement by disease or by ' accident (when on leave included), he and his dependents shall be entitled tm the same pensions and allowances as if death or disablement had occurred <pn active service, or resulted from his employment as a member of the Expeditionary Forces. That the Government be requested to provide such competent control of ,ttrb cost of living as will ensure protection of the pensions and allowances from being at apv time considered inadequate by the operations of those seeking private profit out of the necessaries of life, the Government to take such action aa , will Result in the reduction of the Cost, of living, and that the allowances to wives and all dependents increase in the same ratio as the cost of livings That provision be made*-by the Government for the recording of votes by all soldiers at home or abroad, at all gen- , eral elections and referenda, and on all national questions submitted to the people for their decision by popular vote. That the State should provide a legal representative in each town where ; the board sits, whose services shall be ivail" able to appellants before the. Military Service Board free of cost to appeltartp. That a register of all classes of reservists be immediately completed by the authorities, and steps taken to enforce • the penal provisions of the Act. THE POSITION OF FARMERS.
