Replying to a proposal to establish 1 new Air Ministry with the view of mating a fighting arm apart fro~i the limy as a decisive factor, Mr. Bonar lam said the Government's advisers did pot recommend the scheme.
In til* eotnmlttee stage of the Financial Bill Mr. Loogh moved a redaction in the duty on sugar to a ha li-penny Jw pound. He said that considerable discontent existed. The sugar available in ISMI was only 16 per cent, lees than jn 1913, bat only 50 per cent, had reached the consumer. Mr. Bonar Law said the Government had found it necessary to take over the control of supar and would thus maintain uniformity of price longer than otherwise. A possible difficulty lay, not in getting supplies, but in obtaining transit. Jht amendment waa negatived. ENDORSEMENT OF PARK RESOLUTIONS. London, July 17. The question of the treatment of shipowners again arose daring a discussion ou the finance Bill. The trend of the speeches was similar to Mr. Bonar Law's recent exposure of large profits. Mr. Houston, M.P. for Liverpool, twitted Mr. Bonar Law with pocketing the profits for two years, when the might have taken action, and then turning King's evidence. Mr. Baithy Dennis stated tuat British shipping profits were 350 million, a get averse* of »i per cent.
