EVERYBODY'S.

"THE SECRET OF THE SWAMP." A Gem" i.-lirit: is the verdict of the reviewers on the latest Bluebird release, "The Secret of the Swamp," shown at Everybody's last night. This charming photoplay was written and produced by Lynn Reynolds, a young director ■who has been making a name for himself by the direction of his own stories, with 'Miss Myrtle Gonsales as his featured player. This picture is the finest thing that lie has ever done, and worthy of the high standards of the Bluebird ■photoplays. Their slogan, "The plays the thing," has excited much favorable comment in the .press and in the publications devoted to motion picture affairs. Their policy of making the story their first consideration, not the "stars," has been approved far and wide as the most promising for the future of motion pictures. But their insistence upon a first-class story first of all does not mean that the casts will be neglected. A review of the names of the players appearing in 'Bluebird photoplays is enough to refute this idea. It does mean, however, that players who are peculiarly fitted for the portrayal of certain roles will "be cast for them, whether their names are familiar to the public or not. This is as it sliould be. One has only to read the countless books and articles of famous critics of the stage on the evils of the aibuse of the star-system to realise that the Bluebird organisation has taken a stand which means the improvement in the production of motion pictures. All their pictures shown in !N T ew Plymouth bear out the above and "The Secret of the Swamp" is no exception to the rule. This picture, together with several good supporting items will be finally shown to-night.

TWO FOX 'FEATURES TO-MORROW. To-morrow and Friday a complete "Fox" programme will 'be shown. "A Tortured Heart" is a five-reel drama starring the beautiful Virginia 'Pearson, and "The Brainstorm" is a two-reel comedy bv tlie band of Fox comedians.
