BOOKMAKERS FINED. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Auckland, July 16. At the (Police Court, Loftus Richards, Joseph Chadwick, Gilbert Walker and John Weston were charged with betting on licensed premises and in a public place. The cases against Weston and Walker were adjourned till Thursday. Richards and Chadw a ick .p}<mded guilty, and were fined £IOO each on one information and £SO each on the second. GAMBLING DEN RAIDED. Wellington, July 16. The police raided Chinese premises in Carroll Street last night and found illegal games in progress. They arrested everybody on the premises, and charges were preferred in the Police Court today against nineteen Chinamen. Fifteen men were charged with being on the premises and teed £l. The occupier and assistant in the conduct of the house, who Uwt Thursday 'became the occupier, were lined £25, and another assistant £lO.
