RAHOTU'S PATRIOTIC WORK. The Rahotu Ladies' Patriotic Committee have received a letter from the Y.M.C.A. secretary of the New Zealand Division in France acknowledging receipt of a case sent out by the committee, and stating that the contents were being forwarded to one of their dugouts to be distributed to the men in the trenches, where, it was stated, tliey would be more than welcome, and those who contributed are thanked for their kindly thought. In a case of goods just sent off by the committee were the following: Seventeen face cloths, 20 pairs handknitted socks, one muffler, 12 pair machine socks, six lounge suits, six dressing gowns, 24 under flannels, 2S top shirts, three night shirts, six bed shirts, 42 pyjamas, 60 handkerchiefs, 38 pillow cases, 30 towels, 12 large sheets, eight draw sheets, six larga Glaxo, 12 packets tablet sugar. Also the following gifts: three pair bed socks, Mrs. Faber; two chest protectors and one 'balaclava, Mrs. C. Sharroek; one pair socks, Mrs. Featherstone; two face cloths, Miss Fischer; two case cloths, Miss Baker; one dozen writing pads and six packets envelopes and three dozen soap, Mrs. Robertson; linen, Mrs. Hughson. The balance-sheet, as audited by Mr. I. S. 'S. Medley, shows receipts as follows: Donations £lO4 19s 4d, -pumpkin competition gifts £24 2s Bd, entertainments, etc.. £4O las, afternoon teas and dances £333 6s, interest lfis M, total £504 Is 9d. Expenditure: Material and goods made up and sent to soldiers £lO9 9s Bd, hall hire and music £0 2s Od, donations to New Plymouth Ladies' Committee for hold-alls £8 Bs, remitted to Y M.C.A. £OO and Red Cross £l5O, refund sheep £<s ss, total £392 5s 2d. Cash in bank and in hand £lll lfis 7d.
