CHANG HSUN'S FORCES SURRENDER. HUGE FIRES tRURNISTG. London, July 13 Fighting is proceeding outside Peking, Peking, July 13. The Republican Commissioners offerer! Ohang Hsun his life and the security of the property of himself and his followers, 'but he refused to surrender. It is expected the Republicans will now enter Peking and prepare to attack the Imperialists. Received July 15, 5.5 p.m. Tientsin, July 14.
Chang Hsun's force of three thousand, which occupied the Temple of Heaven, surrendered after two hours' fighting. Tho remnants of Chang Ham's forces are holding the Forbidden City, whero huge fires are raging. . ;J
REPUBLICANS DEFEAT ROYALISTS.
CHANG HSUN A REFUGEE. Australian Cable Association. Received July IS, 5.16 p.m. Pekin, July 14. A thousand Republicans attacked at daylight, shelling the Forbidden City. Chang Hsun'a adherents have deserted, except 3000 Monarchists, who are stubbornly rosisting, and it is expected they will continue until exterminated. Both sides are not interfering with foreigners. A later Tientsin message says the Republicans defeated Chang iHsunß forces in heavy fighting, the Monarchists surrendering. Chang Hsun lias taiken refuge at the Dutch Legation. THE FIGHTING OVER. ORDER RESTORED IN 'PEKIN. A. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. and Rcuter. Received July 15, 11.15 p.m. London, July 15. The Press Bureau states that the Charge d'Affairs reports that the diplomats wire warned of the Republicans' intention to attack the Imperialists, and measures were taken to localise the fighting and prevent danger to foreigners. \
The bombardment began at dawn on Thursday. Chang Hsun has taken refuge at tho Netherlands Legation, but his wife and family have gone to the Austrian Legation. The fighting has now ceased. Keuter Service. Received July 15, 11.55 p.m. Washington, July 15.
The Chinese Legation has been informed that order was restored in Pekin with few casualties. Six foreigners ventured near the firing line, and were slightly wounded.
