News has been received by Mrs. Mt«w, of Pembroke Road, Stratford, that her son, Corporal Ernest Miers, was killed in action on June 23. Corporal Miera left with the 19th Reinforcements. ' Mr. W. McGill, of the Okato Dairy Factory, has been appointed manager of the Tututawa Dairy Factory, to succeed Mr. George Brooking, who shortly joins the reinforcements for the front. A London cable states that Lieutenant Adieh Chavasse, the youngest son of the Bishop of Liverpool, was shot while on patrol duty. Captain Chavasse, V.C., made five unsuccea&ful attempts to bring liim in, and on the last occasion reached the spot, but failed to , find his brother. It is believed the Germans removed him.
