MESOPOTAMIA.

THE ADVANCE DESCRIBED ■ , •DEFEATS REMEDIED. | London, July 10. | A dispatch has been issued by General ! Maude, covering the seven months until [ March 31. It shows that the period was equally divided 'between prepara- ; tions and "the subsequent operations leading to the fall of Bagdad. He describes how the advance was successfully carried out. in face of difficult conditions, through the tenacious ppir'.t and gallantry of the British and Indian troops, brilliantly seconded by the navy. The Tecent disclosures of the Mesopotamia Commission attract attention and j create special interest in General I Maude's messages to the present water transport and hospital arrangements. He states that the rwlv-fonned inland water transport is so well organised that night and day an endless chain of river craft pass up and down the river, thereby assuring the maintenance of the troops at the front. The well-equipped hospitals are more than adequate to meet the calls, and throughout the operations the treatment of the wounded was carried out on model lines. The arrangements for the comfort and rapid transfer of patients fr<Mn the field units to the hospitals reflect much credit on those concerned. General Maude thankfully acknowledges the prompt response from England, India, and Egypt to his demands.
