The preliminary bqaneas will be to .appoint a chairman. Mr. puke " (Chief Secretary) will act as the provi- : V; sional chairman., The Government will "i nominate a chairman in the event of the , r - Convention not agreeing to an appointment. Most of the nominations of delegates have already been received. Eminent Irishmen are assembling from all parts in a spirit of conciliation, in the endeavor to secure a settlement of the old discords, and the Government will do its best to the same end.
