TAKEN BY THE KENEMAIOGEAPH. That Taranaki beauty spots can rank with the finest scenery in the world waff demonstrated at the Empire Theatre on Saturday, when the locally-produced 'Kinematograph picture "Beauties of Taranaki'' was screened for the first time. The picture is a high-class production, ranking with the best scenic films that have been shown in the local theatres. The majority of the scenes will be familiar to most of our readers, yet living in closo proximity we often fail to appreciate the exquisite beauty of our surroundings, and it is only a picture of the excellence of "The Beauties of Taranaki" that awakens us. to the fact that our environment is second to none, in the world. The picture opens with scenes at the breakwater, showing a steamer berthed at the wharf and unloading cargo. From that we are taken for a trip round the sea front with some beautiful seascape views. Tho Mokau river is shown in all its beauty, and this is a part of the picture with which the greater number of local residents v/ill not be familiar. The densely Wooded banks sloping \ip on each side of the river help to make the picture one of indescribable beauty. Splendid are the next views of Mt. Egmont, taken after a very -heavy fall of snow, and it is a merry party who first work off their energy in a fierce battle with snowballs and later attack the more strenuous work of climbing the mountain. (Local views are shown of the tennis courts and a Territorial parade in Pukekura Park, the concluding section being a reproduction of the New Plymouth Pierrot' their recent big patriotic effort. t,„j film will be screened at the Empire Theatre again to-night and to-morrow night, and should not be missed by anyone interested in our town.
