ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE NEW DANDIES. Mr. Edward Branscombe's latest company, "The New Dandies" will appear at the Empire Theatre next Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. To accommodate these popular entertainers on the evenings stated, the picture programmes will be suspended, and a special stage erected for the occasion. The latest of the Dandies to visit New Plymouth have just concluded a most successful season of four weeks in Auckland, and glowing reports have come to hand of the accomplishments of the various artists. The company appearing next week is in reality the new Orange Company, socalled by reason of their costume facings Three years ago the Orange Dandies appeared, and were voted one of the strongest combinations of their kind. Only two of the old .coterie are returning, however, in Miss Linda Bradford, pleasantly remembered as a very fine contralto singer, and Mr. Andrew Pace, a light comedian, who became very popular on his previous tour. The new members, all of whom are said to be extremely versatile, include Miss Dorothy Manning (soprano), Miss Ivy Dair? (comedienne), Mr. John Wellby (bass). and Messrs Harry Graham and Courtney Ford (comedians). Mr. Philip Hard man, .the pianist, was also here on a previous occasion. The. box plan opens at Collier's next Tuesday morning. On Wednesday evening the Dandies will appear in the Parish Hall, Inglewood, owing to the Tdwn Hall being otherwise engaged. SPIRITUALISM EXPOSED. Believers in spiritualism, non-believers, and those who stand on the border-line will have an opportunity on Wednesday and Thursday evenings "of next week of witnessing "phenomena" at the Good Templar Hall, through tho medium of Driver, the well-known man of mysteries. It is true that nowadays people do not believe in witches and warlocks, kelpies and brownies, elves and gnomes, genii and bunyips. But all this notwithstanding, the present is an age in which one hears much of astral bodies, spiritualistic manifestations, and phychical research. He is generally known as "jthe man who exposed Bailey," a notorious spirit medium. He is also known as a clever magician, and a skilful performer of all the tricks of the spiritualists, and he_ claims that he can do all that the spirit mediums are able to accomplish without calling in the aid of the supernatural. This he has demonstrated in the entertainment he is now giving throughout New Zealand, and which he will repeat in New Plymouth next week, when he will present many novelties entirely new and original, as well as give a "complete exposure of modern spiritualism and its mediums," besides giving a few "revelations" concerning the spiritualistic movement in Now Zealand. A most attractive entertainment is promised, and tho whole performance is one that can be thoroughly recommended.
