DOMINION SHOW.

ANOTHER GOOD ATTENDANCE. Despite unfavorable conditions yesterday there was a good attendance at the Hawera Winter Show, and indications point to interest being maintained throughout the week. Judging of the poultry was commenced early by Mr. Dacre, of Christcliurch, and the awards were notified promptly. There are some excellent birds penned, A verv strong feature are the American leghorns. This is always a popular class in South Taranaki, and this year additional interest is added by the fact that the North Island Leghorn club championships have been awarded to Hawera, and have attracted fanciers from Taihape, Hamilton, Palmerston North and elsewhere. The judge considered that the showwas one of the best ever held in Ha wcra, both as regards numbers and quality. In the public school division, the judges expressed themselves as very pleased with the work, the prize-winning maps of New Zealand by a Vogeltown school child, and of the British Isles by a Hawera school pupil being classed as excellent. The kindergarten department of ihe Hawera Convent also makes a pleasing and artistic display. The Awapuni Pipe Band was present during the day.
