A PLACID MILITARY PARTY IN MAJORITY. London, June 2. It is reported that the ex-Emperor Hsuan Tung deposed in 1912, has promulgated an announcement that he has succeeded to the throne. Peking, July 2. The President lias resigned, and the Emperor has been restored to the throne. The Chinese coup had dramatic swiftness. The secretary of General Changshia, leader of the military party, suddenly appeared at the presidential residence at 3 a.m. and curtly informed the President that he must resign, as the Manchu Emperor Hsuan Tung had been restored. The new Emperor is a ')oy of eleven, and was deposed in I#l2. Washington, July 2. The State Department has received dispatches reporting that the Chinese monarchists dislodged the President, Li Yuan Lung, and that General Chang Sluing had declared himself as dictator and intends to restore Hsuan Tung to the throne. lUnited Service. Troops' were concentrated round the forlbidden city and lined the streets. The military party at Pekin is in tbe majority. The northern Governments Bupport the change.
