The News, in a leader of 'June 23, had occasion to criticise the Bank of New Zealand manager's reference, in his report, to the coat of- living. We wish it to be understood that although the people of New Zealand, as shown by the increased savings bank deposits, have shown very considerable economy, there are many ways of economising still more without necessarily encroaching upon legitimate pleasures. One direction we would point out is "discriminate buying." Let the people think before they buy. Consider, compare, and weigh up respective values. To impress the thought of value for money is the aim of advertisers. As an example attention is called to !R. Hannah and Co.s adverr tisement in this issue, r~A you should decide for yourselves il it is possible, to procure better value in footwear than they offer—Advt. DON'T FORGET Coughs and Colds will be prevalent the nest few months. Their life will be short when you use SYKES' CURA COUQH«JI stores. Is bottU.
