gjEooxD j)msia*T league. ITS AIMS AXD OEJECTS. Plank I.—The League heartily cooperates with the Government to maintain reinforcements and win the war. Plank 2.—The League is non-p'arty. Plank 3.—Pensions on disablement of iordiers to follow the British scheme; according to injury and lisablement, and not left to the discretion of a Pensions Board. Plank 4.—The League is endeavoring to secure adequate pensions and illowances for all wives and dependents. (The present scales are pitifully inadequate and compare very unfavorably with those prevailing in England). I'lank s.—The medioal examination to be the deciding factor aa to the liability of the State.
The League aims at bringing home to the authorities and the public the neces*ity, in the interests of the community, of adopting a policy of generosity to the dependents of those who, by their sacrifices, are maintaining the existence of the State, and views with grave concern the indications o? a policy of State parsimony. The League believes the time hag come when the Government should completely review the question of separation allowances and pensions, so that those who may be called on to make the great sacrifice of giving up husband and father shall not also lie condemned to comparative penury and want. The League holds that thoSe who remain behind in their ordinary i avocation, for whatever reason, should be called upon universally by legislation 'to make such financial sacrifice as will meet the needs of the dependents of those who are "ailed 'ipon to face the supreme sacrifice.
