Mr. G. Capper, Kaimata, on Wednesday, received a telegram from the Defence Minister stating that his son. J. Caipper, has again Ibeen (wounded (severely) and admitted to the hospital. This makes the third time that Sergt. Capper has been wounded. News is to hand of the death in 'action in France of Private Jack Matthews, sen of the late Jus. Matthews, who lived at Normanby many years. Private Matthews left with the Sixths, <md was attached to the Otago Infan-

Marshall, I'atea, is among those wounded and admitted to hospital from the Western front. Mrs. Hunt, of Patca, has received word that her brother, Mm. Rives Allen had Ibeen 'killed in action on the western front. Mm. Allen, who was horn in the Alton district, left ■with the ■N 7. Rifle Brigade (Earl of Liverpool's Own) and up to the la&t Big Push had passed through the various engagements unscathed. Of Mrs. Hunt's'six brothers one has now made the supreme sacrifice, one has returned from active service, tiwo others are still at) the front, a fifth is in camp ait Trentham, and the sixth -was recently rejected on account of being under military age.
