TECHNICAL EDUCATION.
CXXNTfdS-EKC E OF DIRECTORS, ETC. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 26. Among the remits proposed at a conference of directors and supervisors of technical education to-day were the following:—That tho Government .bo requested to lease or purchase sites for technical schools and manual training buildings when such sites are not otherwise available; that the Government be naked to grant an allowance for Education Boards to provide for the upkeep of technical schools and manual training 'buildings; that it foe an obligation upon all employers of persons under eighteen years of age to give them necessary facilities for attending continuation classes; that where there already is a statutory limitation upon the hours of lalbor permitted the hours be reduced by ; the number of those required at attendance at continuation classes; that in the case of students engaged in "blindally" occupations the hours of compulsory attendance 1)9 douible those required in tho case of boys or girls in recognised trades and industries; t'hat the National Efficiency Board should urge upon the Government the necessity for allooating sufficient funds to provide for the erection, equipment and upkeep of technical schools throughout the Dominion on modern lines to meet the increased demand' that must arise for technical education and must be supplied if our industries are to lie developed so as to satisfy our national needs.
