SECOND J)IVISION LEAGUE. ITS AIMS AND OBJECTS. Plank I.—The League heartily cooperates with the Government to maintain reinforcements and win the war. Plank 2.—The League is non-party. Plank'3.—Pensions on disablement of soldiers to follow the British scheme;, according to injury and disablement, and not left to the discretion of a Pensions Board. , Plank'4.—The. League is endeavoring to secure adequate pensions and allowances for all wives and dependents. i (The present scales arc pitifully inadequate and compare very unfavorably with those prevailing in England). Plank 5. —The medical examination to dc the deciding factor as to the liability of the State. The League aims at bringing home to the authorities and the public the neces»ity, in the interests of the community, of adopting a policy of generosity to the dependents of those who, by their sacrifices, are maintaining the existence of the State, and views with grave concern the indications of a policy of Statp parsimony. The League believes the time has come when the Government should completely review of separation allowances and pensions, so that those who may be called on to make the great !acrifice of giving up husband and father shall not also lie condemned to comparative penury and want. The League holds that those who remain behind in their ordinary avocation, for whatever reason, should be called upon universally by legislation to make such financial sacrifice as will meet the needs of the dependents of those who are called upon to face the supreme laerifice.
