The News, in a leader of Juno 23, had occasion to criticise the Bank of New Zealand manager's reference, in his report, to the eoßt of living. We wish it to he understood that although the people of New Zealand, as shown by the increased savings bank . deposits, have shown very considerable economy, there are many ways of economising still more without necessarily encroaching upon legitimate pleasures, One direction we would point but is "discriminate buying." Let the people thing before they buy. Consider, compare, and weigli up respective values. To impress the thought of value for money is the aim of advertisers. As an example attention is added to R. Hannah and Co.'s advertisement in this issue, and you should decide for yourselves if it is possible to procure better value in footgear than they offer.-—Advt
