DISTRICT NEWS.
WHANGAMOMONA. (From Our Own Correspbndent). On Saturday a match took place between the Whangamomona and Tahora Defence Rifle Clubs, and although the weather was bad a most enjoyable day was spent, the Whangamomona club being victorious by one point. In the evening the'local club entertained the visitore at a dinner at Rothery's Hotel, when the usual toasts were proposed and duly honored. A return match is to be fired at a future date, when it is the intention of the Whanga Club to try and win the champion shield recently won from the Patea Club, and now held at Tahora. On Tuesday, July 3, a grand character and costume concert is to be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, in aid of the Sunday school building fund. The children are being carefully trained by Mrs. Norrie, and a bumper house is expected. Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Marsh have returned from a trip to Taihape. Mr. Davis, building inspector of the Public Works Department, paid a visit here on Monday, in connection with the renovating of the police station.
