A SEARCH FOR THE VK888& VaOMBELIEVED TO HAVE FOUNDEM® By Telegraph.—Press AssoolatWt. Dunedin, Last Night. The Union Company was advised this afternoon that the steamers sent in quest of the Waitotara (which was abandoned owing to being on fire), had, after practically a two days' search in the vicinity, failed to see any sign of the vessel. Captain Ritchie is of opinion that the Waitotara must have foundered. The steamers sent to try to assist la her rescue have been oi dared by cable to return to their original destination.
