PUBLIC NOTICES. £<ECOND DIVISION JEAGUE. ITS AIMS A!$D OBJECTS. Flank I.—The League heartily cooperates with the Government to maintain reinforcements and win the war. Plank 2.—The League is non-party. Plank 3.—Pensions on disablement of soldiers. to follow the British , scheme; according to injury and disablement, and not left to the discretion of a Pensions Board. Plank 4.—The League is endeavoring to secure adequate pensions and allowances for all wives and dependents. (The present scales are pitifully inadequate, and compare very unfavorably with those prevailing in England). Plank s.—The medical examination to be the deciding factor as to the liability of the State. The League aims at bringing home to the authorities and the public the necessity, in the interests of the community, of adopting a policy of generosity to the dependents of those who, by their sacrifices, are maintaining the existence of the State, and views with grave concern the indications ol a policy of State parsimony. ' The League believes the time has come when tiie Government should completely review the question of separation allowances and pensions, so that those who may be called on to make the great lacrifice of giving up husband and father shall not. also lie condemned to comparative penury and want. The League holds that those who remain behind ix their ordinary avocation, for whatever reason, should be called upon universally by legislation to make such financial sacrifice as will meet the needs of the dependents of those who are called upon to face the supreme sacrifice.
