NEW PLYMOUTH HARBOR.
IMPORTANT PROPOSALS. COMPREHENSIVE EXTENSION BCHBME, A special meeting of the New Ply» mouth Harbor Board was held yesterday. The business was dealt with in committee. At the close of the meeting the chairman, Mr. Newton King, authorised the publication, of the following resolutions which had been carried:— (a) "After careful consideration the board is of opinion that the progress of the province, and the advent of Home liners, require that still further port facilities should be provided, and recommends:— "(1) A further extension of the breakwater, and the deepening of the channel to a depth of not less than 28 feet at low water ordinary spring tide. "(2) The erection of a new wharf, preferably in concrete, for the berthage 'of Home liners. "(3) Foreshore reclamation to pro' vide accommodation for sheds and warehousee. "(4) That the services of a marine engineer be obtained to report on the foregoing, and to provide plans and estimates. b) "That when the engineer is report* ing on matters of future improvements to the harbor, he be asked to report also on the advisability of ft wavebreaker between Moturoa and Mikotahi, and its probable cost."
