"SHOW YOU WHAT TANKS CAN DO."
FRENCH AIRMAN'S AMAZING PRANK. London, May 21. The Daily Telegraphy correspondent says:—Second-Lieutenant Navarre is a magnificent flying man. He has accounted for some two dozen enemy machines, ftnd is perhaps the most daring fighter known. But when off dutr and "'on the spree" he is alarming. His wild performances while on leave in Paris fcave always been a by-word, but were hushed up for the sake of his other feats at the front.
Bathe has reached the limit, and now Is "wanted" for attempted man-slaugh-ter. Having dined gaily near Italics, he took three pals with him in his motor tar.
"Show you what "the Tanks do at the front," said Navarre, and started doing. He charged on and off the kerbstone at torty miles an hour, charged a group of five policemen standing in the road, knocking three down and hurting them jjadlv; charged another party of policemen, also with casualties. ■Finally he charged an unoffending motor car, smashed it up, and made off. ffe is now wanted. He is believed to have returned to the front to bring down one or two more Bodies and thus propitiate the authorities..
t Navarre has been forgiven many minor escapades before, and has about 300 days' cells to do already after the war, but he went a little too far this time, End is not going to be»let off with only a. talking to. It is stated tliai Navarre, since being severely wounded- during one of his aerial exploits, has shown signs of mental disturbance.
