(From Our Own Correspondent). Much sympathy .is felt for Mr. B. Codd and family in the loss they have just sustained. Word was received to-day from the Minister that Private 11. A. Codd was killed in France on .Tune 7. Privates D. Fraser and .Karalus have also been killed and Privates K'vctts, Knson. Purli and A. Drake have been wounded. The friends and relations have the sympathy of a wide circle of sympathisers. A farewell social to Mr. and Mrs. Tfoby and family was held in the school room at Lincoln road on Monday evening. The Rev) Richards occupied the chair. During the evening a number of musical items were rendered, and the chairman in a very appropriate speech alluded to the loss the -district sustained through the decision of the guests and wished ■them all success in their now home. He then presentod Mr. and Mrs. Iloby with an illuminated address and the Masters Hoby with a fine book each. The YiM.C.A. benefits to the extent of ,£37 "2s id'as the result of Maketawa Day at the Mart oh Saturday last.
