THE EMPIRE.

"ARSEN LUPIN" TO-NIGHT; This briljiant cracksman has now a recognisea place in literature comparable with Raffles and Sherlock Holmes. He is the representative of the most daring and ingenious defier of law and order, but his exploits are all directed towards the thwarting and discomfiture of his sworn enemy Guechard. The latter is a pompous detective, who, met by brains as bright as Lupin's, is always' late. One of the most ingenious tricks indulged in by this fairy prince of burglarism is the last episode in the film version. His house is surrounded, and it* secret entrance is found to be guarded. Arsen Lupin rushes to the lift, which proves to have a secret lower chamber. Hidden here he , makes a lightning change (all cleverly depicted on the screen), and makes up to resemble Guechard. As the lift rises he s)teps out, greets Guechard's followers as their master, andx moves "off. As a last touch of diabolical humor he tells the police that Arsen Lupin has made up as Guechard. The result is that when the genuine Guechard makes his appearance he is tumbled over by the rush of the police, and bound and gagged in the twinkling of an eye. "Arsen Lupin" will be screened at ' the Empire to-night, fi.t th> matinee to-morrow and again for the last time to-morrow night.
