A cruiser arrived at night time and played a brilliant searchlight among the mob. revealing every man's face, and causing the most ferocious orators to stop and slip hastily away. It also dispersed subsequent efforts, to hold meetings, flashing searchlights so sudden and brilliant among the crowd that even the diehards were frightened and respectfully saluted by removing their hats. Thereafter the searchlight was master of the situation.
