BRITISH ADVANCING SLOWLY.
AEROPLANE ACTIVITY. Received June 20, 8 p.m. London, June 20. Field-Marehal Sir Douglas Haig reports: We advanced slightly southward of the Cojeul river, northward of Souehez river, aiid captured four field guns eastward of Messines on Thursday night, additional to those already reported. Our aeroplanes did valuable work, despite the unsettled weather, and bombed an enemy flump, causing an explosion. They downed six enemy machines, whilst three of ours are missing. A French communique states: There , has been a violent artillery duel between Mont Cornillct and Mont Blond. Our fire broke a strong counter-attack on the positions we won yesterday, the enemy suffering serious losses. Received June 21,12.25 a.m. Havre, June 20, The Belgian Government denies that deportations have ceased. On the contrary, they have recommenced en masse. Mons has been warned that it must supply six hundred. GERMAN STORMING TROOPS. MEN PICKED FOR PURPOSE. Received June 21, 1.35 a.m. London, June 2C. The Daily Chronicles correspondent at headquartetrs says that Germany is specialising in storming troops, which consist of picked men, because youth, vigor and daring are required. They are either bachelors or childless married men. A company of stormers is allotted to each brigade, and trained in hazardous operations, particularly in counterattacks.
