REDUCTION OF RACE MEETINGS.
ACTION OF WELLINGTON CLUB, By Telegraph.—Prfcßs Association.' , j We'.lingtbn, Last Night.' ; Tho district committal of the ton Racing Committee met to deal witli; the question of tho (induction of -the' number of racing days in the Welling-, ton province. The recommendation of! the committee was that the Wellington Club should lose three days, and Otaki : Horowhenua, Wairarapa, Masterton. and Carterton one day each. Horowhenua and Carterton had on]y one daj tach so that for them reduction means closing their courses until tho end of the war! Nothing can be siaid yet about the result of the curtailment on the operations of the other clubs. Possibly some of. then) will not care to hold one day meetings,. These questions will come before thtt' conference when it approves tlity dates for the year, in accordanco with the scheme adopted by tho joint conference. Those clubs which continue to race will be asked to provide sufficient money from their profits to maintain the courses of those clubs which are closed down. The committee made this further recommendation, with the object of keeping alive the clubs which are compelled to suspend operations, that the clubs which continue to hold meetings should grant the privileges of honorary members to all those members of clubs which are closed down, so long as . those members continue to subscribe to their own clubs.
