STORMS IN WELLINGTON.

A MAN KILLED. Wellington, June 17. Heavy rain, accompanied liy lightning and tliunder set in yesterday afternoon and 'between 7.45 and 8,30 p.m. there was a tremendous downpour, "which soon Hooded the streets in the city and caused a, temporary stoppage of the tram services to ■ some suburbs. Several small slips have occurred and the Hntt road is badly scoured in place?. The Government Meteorologist reports the rainfall in the city for 21 houra ending 9 a.m. at over two inches.
