HAHOTO. (From Our Own Correspondent). The salo days here are very lively, and consequently the afternoon teas at the hall are well patronised. At the euchre party in the evening Mif.B D. Baker won the lady's prize (a glass cake dish), and Miss S. Tylee the booby prize. Mr. W. Topliss also received a booby prize, while Mr. Jimmy Coffey won the gentlemen's prize. Two more of our farmers, viz., Messrs. V. Tyrrell and A. E. Phillips, have just bought Ford cars for family use. Mr. L. Evans, who has been unwell for the last three months, and finds he is'still unable to resume his duties, has sent in his resignation to the factory directors. He and Mrs. Evans have the sympathy of the district in their misfortune, but hope with time he will be strong again. : ~ Private R. Rooks Is to be farewelled nes(t Thursday evening in the hall. Word has been received from Private Joe.'Phillips to say his shattered ankle js jii'at about well and ho will soon be back'again in the trenches; also Private ; V. Candish was in the best' of health hut> complained of the extreme cold over there'.' The rough windy weather has moved many farmers' hay stacks right away and many don't* know what to do for winter feed. HousesTsheds, etc, are also reported damaged. It is the severest storm we have ever known.
