WEST END BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the West End Bowling Club was held oh Wednesday night, Mr. J. D. Sole (president) in the chair, .REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET. The report congratulated members on tho splendid results of the past season, especially financially, commencing with a credit balance of £4 14s Id* the year ending with a credit of £3O 18s 6d, with outstanding subscriptions, etc., amounting to £l6 9a Cd aud no outstanding liabilities. It was honed during the coming season to reduce a number of debentures, also to dismantle and sell the greater portion of the corrugated iron fence enclosing the green. Contribution:, to the Wounded Soldiers' Fund amounted to £l3 13s 6d, plus £9 for entrance fees for banner matches. The assets exceed the liabilities by £382 10s 2d after writing off 10 per cent, depreciation on buildings and plant. From a playing point the club was again very successful, being runner up for the northern division in the banner competition while two rinks from .he club goi into the semi-finals in the Taranaki tournament, one rink also getting into the semi-finals in' the Wangauui Christmas tournament, while in the Easter pairs tournament the club supplied tho runners up. In inter-club nrntches/tha club quite held its own and had a most enjoyable and successful season. The green has been forked up and resuwn, and the committee thanked the members for,the generous help in money and labor given during tho season. The winter green was now open for play And quite a large number of members were taking advantage. Feeling reference wni, made to the loss by death of Messrs. (J. Thomson and Mr. H. Stccker. In the club competitions tho senior championslup fell to Mr. F. A. Lee and the junior championship to Mr. R. Paul, both competitors providing some excellent games. Thanks were accorded for the splendid help given by tho ladies, also to the press. '• The chairman, after' alluding to the club' 3 satisfactory financial position, thanked the committee and members gonerally. for the splendid Cie'£ they had given him, and hoped this nelp would continue in the future. He hoped that in the near future tho debentures would be wiped out altugsther. The report 'and balance sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for th,c ensuing year:—President, Mr. J. D. Sole (re-elected), vice presidents, Messrs W. Oliver and 7. Johnson; secretary and treasurer, 'Mr. A. A. Thomson; committee. Me»srs. V. H. Beale, F. J. Hill, L. A. Honcyfield, J. Wood, E. H. Fountain, J. Lobb and F. RestoD; hon. auditor, Mr. G. A. Corney; sole selector Mr. V. 'H. Beal; match committee, Messrs. V, J. Hill, V. H. Beale and J. Woods; green warden, Mr. F. J. Hill; delegates to bowling centre, Messrs F. J. EiU and E. H. fountain, GENERAL. Four new members were elected. The subscription was fixed at the same amount as last year. It has decided that the only competitions during the year bo tho3e for the senior aud junior championship. On :hc motion of the chairman ii was resolved: "That it be an instruction to the incoming committee to liquidate at least ton debentures during the forthcoming season, and as many more as funds will permit." The sum of £3 3s was voted to the secretary as an honorarium for past services. Mr. Thomson returned thanks and asked tho club to accept tho amouat back from him' as a donation to the funds of the club, to be devoted to purchasing a, trophy or something of the kind. The chairman said the winter green was now open for play, and he hoped members would avail themselves of the privilege.
