CONVICTED OF CATTLE STEALING. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Hamilton, La3t Night. In the Supreme Court this afternoon a young man named Harold Keys was found guilty on three charges of cattle stealing at Frankton. Sentence was deferred till Friday morning. Prisonc, who conducted his own defence made serious allegations against W. Davie, manager for Ewen McGregor, owner of the cattle. He alleged that Davis had sold him the cattle in question, but Davis donied having had any dealings with prisoner in the matter whatever. Prisoner was unahle to produce any receipts, stating that he had destroyed all the papers after he had been called up in the ballot, preparatory to going to camp. Prisoner absconded from bail in March last, when first charged, but was subsequently arrested, at Mangaweka. He said efforts had been made to induce him to turn King's evidence, it being alleged that he was a member of a. gang of cattle stealers in this district, and this he denied.
