The special correspondent of Lc Journal says: "I have seen in port' the vessels the Americans arc constructing ti) hunt submarines. They are. 30 metres (about US fectj lonpr, propelled by petrol, have a speed of 30 knots, and can replenish their petrol on tlio high seas by . the aid of tubes connecting them to the reservoir ill the parent veflßel. Their armament gives an offensive of extreme rapidity and considerable range, the listening instruments enabling Americans to detect the approach of a submarine. They cannot be navigated under water, but can submerge for a considerable time. Several hundreds of these vesels will bo in active service in a very few months. ADMISSION OF FAILURE. Rome, June 12. . German newspapers are permitted to speak of tlio failure of tho submarine war. The Deutsche Tagcs Zeitung affirms that Germany cannot rely on the submarines to seouro victory.
